Abstract
The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia has undergone several major changes in the curriculum design over the years. Currently ranked number 1 in QS for the discipline of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, Monash has much to share regarding their journey. Through a Teaching Exchange Fellowship, Dr Esther Chan had the opportunity to return to her alma mater and exchange on the current approaches to enrich the nexus between teaching and research, online learning tools, strategies to integrate research to pharmacy programme, and strategies to improve course design. Drawing from the exchange, Dr Chan will present insights and best practices garnered, including the path towards a Vertically Integrated Pharmacy Programme, the award-winning “MyDispense” software, the Objective Structured Clinical Pharmacy Examination (OSCE) approach in Pharmacy, as well as skills coaching as part of the Professional Practice. Dr Chan reflects on the important elements on teaching and learning pre-and-post COVID and the focus on what really matters to students.
