Abstract

As the world continues to evolve rapidly, it is as crucial as ever to ensure our students are well-equipped to face a future marked by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity – also known as VUCA. For this, they will need to develop a variety of holistic competencies, a variety of interconnected transferable skills (e.g., critical thinking), positive values (e.g., professional ethics), and attitudes (e.g., lifelong learning).

To facilitate the ongoing and much-needed conversation about efforts to include such competencies in higher education, we are excited to announce the Fostering VUCA-Ready Talents: Global Forum on Holistic Competencies Development. Hosted by the Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) and supported by CEDARS, this forum will take place on the 8th November, 2022. Partners from institutions around the world, including from universities in Hong Kong, Australia, and the United Kingdom, will all join in to share, discuss, and collaborate on topics and projects related to the development of holistic competencies, as well as their assessment and accreditation. Employers and other stakeholders will also take part in this collective effort to better prepare graduates not only for the fourth industrial revolution, but beyond.

Prof. James Tang Tuck-hong, the Secretary-General from UGC, will join us as an Honourable Guest Speaker in this exciting forum.
