Prof. Betty Leask is an Emeritus Professor in the Internationalisation of Higher Education at La Trobe University Australia, a Research Fellow at the Centre for International Higher Education (CIHE) at Boston College US and an Honorary Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation at Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Italy. Her work bridges theory and practice in unique ways. She has a broad range of experience in universities, most recently as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic at La Trobe University. She has been a Senior Australian Teaching Fellow since 2010. In 2015 she was awarded the IEAA Excellence Award for Distinguished Contribution to International Education and in 2016 the European Association for International Education (EAIE) Tony Adams Award for Excellence in Research. Betty is also Editor-in Chief of the Journal of Studies in International Education, the leading journal in the field. Betty is an internationally renowned researcher and thought leader on internationalisation of the curriculum and higher education.
Dr. Darla K. Deardorff

Darla K. Deardorff is Executive Director of the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA). In addition, she is a research scholar at Duke University’s Social Science Research Institute and holds faculty positions at universities in several countries, including as a research associate at Nelson Mandela University (S. Africa), Meiji University (Japan), Shanghai International Studies University (China) and adjunct faculty at North Carolina State University. She is on the faculty of Harvard University’s Global Education Think Tank and has served as faculty for Harvard’s Future of Learning Institute as well as the Summer Institute of Intercultural Communication in Portland, OR. With over 20 years of experience in international education, she has also held national leadership positions with NAFSA and with Forum on Education Abroad. Author/editor of 8 books and over 60 book chapters and articles, her publications include The Sage Handbook of Intercultural Competence (Sage, 2009), Sage Handbook of International Higher Education, (Sage, 2012), Building Cultural Competence (Stylus, 2012), Demystifying Outcome Assessment for International Educators (Stylus, 2015), Intercultural Competence in Higher Education: International Approaches, Assessment and Application (Routledge, 2017), and Leading Internationalization: A Handbook for International Education Leaders (Stylus, 2018). Her most recent publication is an open access book entitled Manual for Developing Intercultural Competencies: Story Circles (Routledge/UNESCO, 2020) available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, and Russian at https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000370336. She regularly gives invited talks, trainings and workshops around the world on intercultural competence, international education assessment, and global leadership and serves as a consultant and trainer on these topics, including with UNESCO and OECD. The intercultural competence models developed from her research are being used in numerous countries, and she is the recipient of several awards related to her work. Founder of ICC Global, her areas of specialty include cross-cultural training, assessment and evaluation, teacher/faculty preparation/development, curriculum internationalization, global leadership, and intercultural coaching. She received her master’s and doctorate degrees from North Carolina State University.
Professor Ly Tran

Prof. Ly Tran (PhD) is a Professor in the School of Education, Deakin University, Australia and an Australian Research Council Future Fellow. Her research focuses on internationalisation of education, student mobility, learning abroad, and Vietnamese higher education. She leads a four-year project funded by the Australian Research Council on the impacts of Australian students’ learning and engagement in the Indo-Pacific. Her books and papers have won a range of awards, including the International Education Association of Australia Excellence Award for Best Practice in International Education.
Emeritus Professor Fazal Rizvi

Fazal Rizvi is Professor Emeritus at the University of Melbourne Australia, and at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States. He has written extensively on issues of identity and culture in transnational contexts, globalization and education policy, higher education and Australia-Asia relations. A collection of his essays is published in: Encountering Education in the Global: Selected Writings of Fazal Rizvi (Routledge 2014). His most recent books include a co-authored volume, Class Choreographies: Elite Schools and Globalization (Palgrave 2017) and a co-edited volume, Transnational Perspectives on Democracy, Citizenship, Human Rights and Peace Education (Bloomsbury 2019). Professor Rizvi is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Social Sciences, a Research Fellow at the Australia India Institute and a past Editor of the journal, Discourse: Studies in Cultural Politics of Education, and a past President of the Australian Association of Research in Education.
