Presentation Options

  1. Full scholarly papers – 30 minutes (20 min. presentation & 10 min. Q&A)
    Full scholarly papers describe research studies, which adopt an evidence-based, theoretically driven approach to investigation, where the author demonstrates a thorough understanding of related issues in higher education, and addresses research questions or tests hypothesis leading to well argued conclusions. Full papers (optional) should be a maximum of 4,000 words, including a 350 word abstract, references and appendices.

  2. Showcase papers – 30 minutes (20 min. presentation & 10 min. Q&A)
    Showcase Papers summarize new initiatives, work-in-progress, new application challenges, and preliminary studies or recent achievements. We encourage submission in the form of showcase papers to share all kinds of developmental, practical and innovative teaching and learning experiences. Full papers (optional) should be a maximum of 2,000 words including a 350 word abstract, references and appendices.

  3. Symposium – 90 minutes (with a minimum of 30 minutes discussion)
    A symposium is designed to allow for multiple presentations on the same theme or topic. Symposiums should be interactive in nature and usually will have 3 to 4 presenters. Within this framework, the organizer and chairperson of the symposium can arrange in a way which is the best for the topic.

  4. Workshop – 90 minutes
    A workshop is designed to give an opportunity for researchers to meet and discuss topic on a selected focus in an informal and interactive setting. It is an excellent forum for participants with common interests to explore new approaches, critique existing approaches and identify emerging issues in policy, practice or research of higher education. A workshop can be designed in a wide variety of formats, such as discussion, case studies, educational games, small group activities and presentation, etc.

  5. Round table discussion - 90 minutes
    A round table discussion offers an informal platform for researchers to exchange ideas and explore topics or issues related to research in higher education. Each round table will have a Chair who introduces the discussants and keeps time. There will be room at the table for additional authors and others interested in joining the discussion.

  6. Poster sessions – A poster of A2 size (420 mm x 594 mm, portrait in orientation) with 10 minutes of presentation on one PowerPoint slide
    Poster session is another format to share either early research outcomes or innovative ideas and practices on teaching and learning. In each session presenters are asked to prepare a poster of A2 size and one PowerPoint slide to present 10 minutes on their ideas. There will be 4 presenters to a session and then a Q & A after the 4 presentations. An abstract of 350 words can be submitted for review.

  7. Poster (A2 size of paper - 420 mm x 594 mm, portrait in orientation)
    Poster is another format to share innovative ideas and practices on teaching and learning. It may present a report of a research study, an analysis of a practical problem-solving effort, or a description of an innovative program that may be of interest to the participants. An abstract of 350 words can be submitted for review.
